Vestas / Professional Wind Services - Full Assembly
Dundonnell Wind Farm
Dundonnell Wind Farm is at Dundonnell, 23 kilometres northeast of Mortlake in the Australian state of Victoria. Construction began in January 2019 and was completed in 2020 with 80 Vestas wind turbines with a capacity to generate 336MW of electricity. Dundonnell was the biggest Wind Farm under construction in Australia at the time.
OzWind Founder, Adam Dodd, was the Site Manager for Professional Wind Services, who delivered the Full Assembly work package. This was Adam's first assignment as a Site Manager, within 6 months of entering the Wind Industry. His team managed the successful execution of an acceleration program, which introduced a third Main Crane, and resulted in the final 50 Wind Turbines being erected in under 15 weeks - and all turbines being Mechanically and Electrically completed and accepted by the client, ready for commissioning, less than 3 weeks later (without acceleration). This was all completed during the height of COVID restrictions and constraints.
Although the project peaked at over 100 (installation) personnel, the headcount actually decreased during the acceleration program, due to an increase in efficiency and productivity (a by-product of precision planning, systematic organisation and resource management / optimisation).
